Revival
SAGE
is deeply interested in embarking on documentation projects.
As is generally the case in such endeavors, the idea is
'to preserve something of yesterday for tomorrow, especially
if we cannot appreciate it today.' While the world is
in a tryst with materialism, with India and Indians, not
wanting to miss out on the action, right there on center
stage, our valuable spiritual heritage is being irretrievably
lost. We may not truly appreciate the value of our priceless
heritage now, but would certainly be kicking ourselves
in the rear when we eventually surface from our materialistic
binge.
Fortunately,
there are those of us with the vision and others hopefully
with deep pockets who would want to do their bit in preserving
our heritage. Naturally, we are referring to the mature
fruit of our cultural evolution -- spiritual and philosophical
heritage.
A
project that can be said to be dear to us is the documentation
of the works of saints of the bhakti movement. To briefly
outline, the 15th century, witnessed a wave of saints
propounding bhakti in all corners of India. Clearly, a
carefully orchestrated effort by the gods was underway,
signaling the advent of something big...This big event
was of course the advent of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,
the undisputed king of bhakti-yoga...we would very much
like to document this whole event from beginning to end.

In
an recent National Geographic I read about Native Americans
(Red Indians), in an effort to preserve they lost culture.
Very commendable and inspiring. It also brought to sharp
focus, what we have to loose. Here are a people moving
mountains to preserve what little they have. And, here
we are with mountains to preserve and with frightfully
little resolve. NRJ
